Went to a trackday today, found out that it was free to specatate at the Anglesey Circuit. Couldn't spend too long, but had a good half hour - NOT LONG ENOUGH - he says to himself, got settings all wrong most of the time, shutter priority gave me no depth of field, panning with continuos focusing gave me 132 out of focus images.
I hear nothing but good things about Anglesey circuit!
If these are your 'newbie' panning efforts i'm seriously jealous!!!! keep at it, and get back there soon...... _________________ Bring on the snow, for I feel the need to ride.....
Action shots need 3 things to work - light, light and most importantly, light if you cant get the shutter up, open the aperture; depth of field is rarely an option for high-speed subjects.
If you've got multiple bikes in the shot, concentrate on the front one and let the followers gradually go out of focus.
You also need to make the viewer think they're right on top of the action otherwise they're going to feel detached from the subject and the image then loses all impact - get trackside and get personal with your subject
eg that first shot - if you'd have been on a similar height to the riders, you could have zoomed in and 'lost' the gixxer on the rhs, and had the other 3 riders stacked behind each other- the increase in zoom would have made the chasing pair look even closer and it would have been far more dynamic! _________________ There is nothing in life that cannot be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas NPU Member
