Now I know that technically this is not great but I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Eyes are lovely focussed but could be a shade too sharp, compared to the rest of the face, whites of eyes (right one) does not look quite right (to me). Nice catchlights
Maybe darkening the bottom eyelashes would help, think I would also look at cropping the bottom finger off - hmm not sure about that.

And heres me, non portrait taker giving comments

Wow! Those eyes sure jump right off the screen! Lots of impact there. Smile
I have to agree with Hil, though, in that where most of this portrait is very soft focus, the eyes are extremely sharp, I think a little too sharp, and it's slightly unsettling and also difficult for me to focus on for too long for some reason. Also, because the depth of field is so shallow, her neck and shoulders have sort of disappeared into the background, and it slightly resembles just a floating head with hands.
I'm sorry- I hope that doesn't sound harsh. Just trying to give constructive criticism. Smile

I've had to come back to this a few times now and am glad to see others comments, because I was struggling. I agree with the eye sharpness and Blue's floating head comment, but I also wonder if you could have tried a colour filter before the conversion, so that there was more contrast between the hair and face, I think, I am not sure. It may be something completely different, like, it may be that I find the intensity of her stare odd in a pose that suggests repose or contemplation.

Have to side with creators - I'm not convinced by the b&w conversion. It's worth playing with some extreme variations in the channel mixer as you can get some great results

Thanks everyone, have to admit the picture has had some serious Photoshopping especially the eyes. I'll post the original and also have another play with the channel mixer.

Thanks Very Happy
