I have an opportunity to purchase a "slightly" used D80 for $500. However, that is the body only. I have a D40 with the 18-55 kit lens. Will that work on the D80? Do they both require AF-S lenses? _________________ "Nothing exceeds like excess"
It will definitely work on the D80. The D80 has the screw drive focus thingy that the D40 does not, so can use AF as well as AF-S lenses without issue. _________________ There is nothing in life that cannot be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas NPU Member
I alsao got this response back from Nikon technical Supoport this morning...
Thank you for Contacting Nikon Technical Support. Yes any lens that will work on the D40 will work on your D80. With the D40 just ensure you are using AF-S lenses if you wish them to have auto focus. Hope this helps. _________________ "Nothing exceeds like excess"
I went ahead and purchased it. Now, to sell my D40 and a Canon rebel Ti and a Canon AE-1 and the D80 is free! _________________ "Nothing exceeds like excess"
