Location is lovely, but getting there at the right time for calm conditions is "hit and miss" for me, as I am either going past too early, or coming back too late - one of these days though ....... Would love to be there on a calm bright morning
Getting closer would mean putting longer lens on, which I did not have with me.

according to the info on flickr you shot at -4/3 ev - i know compensation isn't always reliably reported so could you confirm if or not you had any compensation dialled in?
i ask because if you have purposely under-exposed, then brightened the pic up in pp, this will increase noise dramatically.
you've shot f/20 again - i really can't emphasise enough about not shooting any narrower than f/16 - you'll not get any better dof due to diffraction
i only ever go above f/11 if i purposely need a longer shutter time (i still don't have any nd filters) and you've obviously not needed that this time if you've been @ iso400 _________________ There is nothing in life that cannot be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas NPU Member

exposure comp diallled in to reduce the blown sky - and foreground brightened - think you have hit the nail on the head
Thanks for reminding me about dof, cannot think why I went to f20 on this one, have to admit that I was a little short of time and "rushing".

Jon - believe it or not, layer blending is what I ended up doing on the Glyderau images, but using smart objects in CS3 - no need for two seperate exposures on the day.
And......what an idiot I am, fo I forgot about it, as I did a liitle tutorial on here
