At the moment I have the grip for my 350D which holds 6 AA rechargeable but my 5D is still running the standard manufactures battery.
I'm thinking of getting the grip for it as it will make it easier to hold when shotting Portraits.

When you compare the price of rechargeable against original batteries, I can get 2 sets of 2700mha (12) for the price of 1 new 5D battery

I voted mfrs original, but i do have a jessops equiv battery for my d70. It's not as good as the nikon version but I was in a desparate rush one day last year after accidentally shorting (and killing) my d70's battery and charger the night before

hmmm, john, i know this was posted ages ago, but how did you do your battery and charger, cos the D70 had a mass recall on loads of its batteries cos they were melting the chargers and dieing?

I bought a battery grip & 2 batteries for my 400D of eBay, they work really well & the grip is excellent quality.

All for the price of a normal grip in the UK alone.

Cheers,

Leo.
