would like a battery grip...Venom, does it help? does it give more than just extra battery life?
also need a lens with a bit of lenght!! was looking at the Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM but read that the lens had problems with losing quality round the edges...for 400 quid i wasn't about to take the risk!
anyone have any other 300mm + lenses they could recommend?
IMO the battery grip is a must. Gives the camera a whole new feel and makes portrait shots easier. The 350D as a very small body, say to my new camera the 5D (which i love) and if you have small hands its probably not a problem but mine seam to overhang the base of the camera so it didn't feel right. Borrowed a mates battery pack to try and within 1 week i'd got my own. Wouldn't be without it now.
How big a lens do you need? I brought the 70-200 F4L USM (simply brillant) and with the cameras 1.6 X sensor gives the equivalent to 112-320 in 35mm terms not cheap though Ģ478 from warehouse express but in my opinion well worth it. Maybe if you require more range you could add a converter? _________________
dont really need to be spending 470 quid on a lens at the moment...think this is my problem...could get away with 200 quid but there is nothing out there for that sort of money which is any good!...i have spent alot of camera equipment this year..only got the 350d in Feb...
will have to wait i think..no point buying the cheap stuff!
i will check out the 70-200..i want to take wildlife and sports shots..but nothing too serious...
The 5D is great. Had to save long and hard for it but it was worth it (Been my dream buy since it came out). Just tryiing to get used to it been full frame, as my lenses arn't as long as they used to be . Looks like i'm going to have to save again for that macro (note to self: better keep wife sweet). _________________

Now though im looking at changing the 10D to a 5D, 1d Mkii N or if i can really justify it a 1ds mkii just because ive signed up my third wedding, so need another body anyway.
I currently use the Olympus C-8080 WZ
this is not a DSLR, but it has served my needs till now. Itīs ideal for travelling when you canīt bring too much stuff.

Well i can recommend the 5D its great!!!
Just have to remember its full frame so your lenses won't be as long as they used to be on your 10D. _________________
I dont have many stuff... mostly because I cant afford them due to Bangladesh currency (Taka) and $ variation (1$=70taka).
I've got Nikon D70s, F65, Tamron 70-300 (1:2macro), Nikkor 28-80 and a 50mm 1.8. I've got rolls of velvias, 3 CF cards, one sort-of-okay tripod and few filters. I'm looking for a remove cord shutter release but it seems it's completely unavailable in Bangladesh!! So hopefully next time when I go out of the country, I'll get one of those and an extra battery grip.

I've sort of fallen into it really. First it was mentioned that i should do the photo's at my brothers wedding (whilst also sharing the best man role with my other brother). So, theres some pressure!!
People seemed really happy with the results, most importantly my bro and his wife are really pleased.
My sister is getting married next year, so she's asked me to do the photo's for that....
I did some candid photo's of a couples first child, they wanted photos before his first birthday. Grandparents wanted it as a surprise present. Did that, they loved the photo's and because of that they've asked me to do the wedding photos.
Finally, the one later next year is someone at work that has seen the wedding photos as well as some of the other ones ive taken at circuits (!!)
So, if your still reading this...... all i've done is put my work about to people i know and thats how its started.
Next wedding is in December, and being honest im bricking it a bit.
In terms of hardware, get a battery grip. Its a bit odd using a small lens such as a 50mm f1.8 but with anything heavier the balance is so much nicer. It is, IMO one of the biggest failings of the 5D. _________________ Sports Panner!

Yeh know what you mean, been looking at one for mine but expensive, and at the moment i want some more glass .

Better glass is definately the way to go. There are a few peaches out there for not silly money. But finding them is the key!
As for my pics, where do i post them....and the other thing is i think i'd need permission from them to post them up here. I have a couple that ive done which i wont need permission for though, so how do i put them up? _________________ Sports Panner!
To post an image click on the 'IMG' button then paste in the address (if you have a flickr account they give you the url below the picture, NO space then click the 'IMG' button again.
If you want you can post them straight from your pc by using the add image to post link below the text box this will host the image for you and resize it then put a thumb nail in your post for you. Start image must be below 2mb.
You can see my stuffs at the bottom of my post (my signature). I'll get a Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro soon (maybe this weekend) and a 100-400L is in my wishlist....just want it for wild life shooting...my 70-200 is not long enough... _________________ Canon EOS 350D with BG-E3 grip

I've got the Sigma 70-300 APO DG, amazing for the price. Ģ150, i think from warehouse express.

Dont get me wrong i really rate Nikon i have an old F5 fantastic camera, and i see now that Nikon have just brought out the F6, seems to me canon seem to be a bit quicker off the mark well when i first brought my canon anyhow, and now its going to be too expensive to change my system so stuck with canon from now on i guess, although not a bad thing either at the mo.

Closest comparison to Canon's 5D is the D200, and it's closer-run than most people would expect from what I've read. All this shenanighans about megapixels is moot by the way - the difference between 10 and 12 megapixels is less than an inch when printed.
