Derek,
I brought this lens when I first had my 350D instead of the kit lens and may I add I still have both.
The 28 - 135 IMO is a very good all round lens, just about wide enough for landscapes and long enough for portraits. Having IS is great as the lens isn't that fast with a max of F3.5 but having the IS helps with the low light stuff.
One thing to watch is lens creep as I know the early reviews commented on this (if the lens is fully closed and you turn it upside down the lens extends out) now this isn't to bad of an issue as long as it doesn't shoot out as this may damage it.
Hope thats of some use, I personally would recommend it as I use mine on both the 350D and 5D and find the image quality to be very good.

I had a chance to play with one of those the other weekend, it is a superb lens.
The IS is great, I have an older IS lens and the difference is quite something, for 200notes I'd snap a hand off.

Just looking it's still nearly £300 at warehouse express so £200 is a good price.
Derek if it doesn't come with a lens hood I'd recommend you get one only £20 new and well worth it
