love the first one. Not sure on the second, might be a grower.

The first one is a star. I have been coming back to the second for several days trying to work out why I really don't like it (apologies Dave because I normally don't put up strong negative reactions). I finally sussed why I have a problem with it. The entire boat is in the frame and my brain says it should be in focus, as it dominates the picture. A shot like this wouldn't hurt my brain if the boat was cropped and my brain would know it was a boat as a background, without being told it by the entire picture and the flowers were more dominant, I think. Again. my apologies, as appreciation is very subjective.

no apologies necessary - the second image was more of an experiment, the dof is fake (lens blur filter) - in the original everything was in sharp focus and I was trying at the time of shooting the image to focus on the flower - I was having a difficult time hanging from the bridge so really couldn't play with apertures too much .
I also tried cropping as I too felt the full boat was too much, but rthe crop didn't work in my eyes.

Thanks Dave, phew. The fake blur really works, I couldn't tell it was post production, so nice work. I guess it just doesn't float my narrow boat.
