End of the SUV?

My brother went mad when I told him we'd bought a nissan x-trail, then I pointed out that it gave better mileage than his 1.6 honda crx and he was forced to shut up Smile

the big monty cars are a bit over the top but I like our x-trail and as far as the safety factor goes - big cars might cause more damage, but it's the idiot behind the wheel that causes the crash in the first place. I'm a strong believer in introducing a more regular driving test - if we had to re-pass our test every 5 or 10 years the roads would end up being a lot safer

Think this may help with extinction....

paying that much extra for a 1.6 family car is daylight robbery.. if the money actually made a difference i probably wouldn't mind so much but so much of the public's money gets wasted by beaurocracy it makes my blood boil

Thankfully my car is not old enough to make a difference... but I find the car tax an unfair system anyway. I have to travel 100 miles per week just to get my son to nursery... all done on small back roads that rarely see repairs. I never make unnecessary journeys and yet I'm charged the same as someone that will drive .5 of a mile to the corner shop just because they fancy a bar of chocolate.

haven't even read the thread, your brother ownes a Rex. Is he on CRX uk? I'm another owner, an he may get less miles per gallon than your xtrail but he'll have a bigger smile. I'll get back in my box now. Si

You might like to find out what road tax you'll be paying over the next couple of years - http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/road-tax/

Mines going up to to £200, but my bro's Landrover is going up to £300 next year and £455 in 2010, and no discount for needing it for work (self employed builder/decorator). Nice to know the government cares not one whit for working people or their vehicles.
