Guitar Man

I took these of a street performer, mostly because of his striking eyes. Please let me know what you think. Confused

Smile very nice pictures of this man..I think his eyes are captivating and I can see why you took his picture. Smile

Like the second one great eyes and detail in the face, only niggle for me is left hand side of picture some dark patches which draw my eyes.
Maybe a clone or crop, just a thought.

I like the second one for a couple of reasons.

A close up like this is full of character and personality.

The first one suffers a bit due to the lighting. Without a reflector or studio lighting, you're fighting the wide dynamic range between the brightly lit parts and his face, which is in shadow. By taking the closeup in the second one, you've significantly minimized the problem.

However, the closeup also loses the context of the guitar, which I think helps define the person. But without some extraordinary efforts, I don't think you can have it both ways.

Since it was his eyes you were trying to capture, I believe that is another reason the second is the better of the two. Nice shot.

well spotted.

Agree with the other comments - his eyes are amazing and really draw you in.

Did you get any of him looking straight at the camera?

Thanks for all the great input, really appeciate it. Unfortunately I could not get a shot with him looking straight at the camera, but now I know where he performs, and will definitely be going back to try and get a view more. Once again, thanks!
