handful of point-to-point shots from 2006Should have posted some of these sooner, so I'm sorry for slapping so many into one post! If you've read my hello/intro post you'll have seen that I have mentioned that I take a lot of amateur horseracing shots, and here are a small selection from the 2006 season.
These were all taken at point-to-point meetings around the north and midlands of england in the first half of 2006 (season finishes in may/june) with a Nikon D70 and typically my Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 AF-S VR. I even tried out my 18-70 kit at one meeting when I needed the width, but shots at less than 70mm are usually taken with my Nikkor 28-70 AF-S f/2.8, which replaced a Sigma 28-70 f/2.8 mid-season.

Wow John, really like these shots.
You've captured the real sense of the moment in them all. Can see why the works starting to come your way and rightly so.
Also glad to see that the D2Xs will be put to great use taking more great shots like these.

absolutely great shots.
Quick question on your sigma lens, you say " Nikkor 28-70 AF-S f/2.8, which replaced a Sigma 28-70 f/2.8" I have the sigma lens, any particular reason why you changed it to the Nikkor?"

Yeah, autofocus was far too slow in poor light. The Nikkor works a lot better but at nearly £900 more than the sigma, it bloody well should do

John would you be so kind as to post a link to your website in the Personal Portfolio Section as I'm sure other members would love to see more of your work.
