For creators, I use apophysis and just kind of play around- really no method to it, they're mostly just happy accidents :D

Thanks oriental-dragon, I thought it might be a photographic process. They are beautiful, and I shall leave them in your very capable hands. It's not something that is gonna float my boat. Thanks for letting me know.
