IR hotfilter conversion

I have finally done what I've threatened to do for a couple of years; ordered an IR hotfilter from lifepixel.com

Only change to my plan is rather than convert my D70, I've ordered one for the D2Xs. If I can't afford to buy another D300 for next year, I'll convert the D2Xs back for remote work, but I'm crossing my fingers I'll have saved up some moolah by the time I have to make that decision Smile

My brother is getting married in a couple of weeks so that is what as given me the push - I should have ordered it earlier really but fingers crossed it'll arrive in time! (no I'm not the official tog for the wedding thank goodness, I'll have enough on my plate being the best man!!)

The hotfilter arrived but I had to pay £43 to release it from the parcelforce depot (£30 import duty, £13 parcelforce release fee, cheeky chuffers)

Unfortunately there are no instructions on how to fit it on lifepixel's site, seems to be a page for every other nikon dslr!  I read through a few of them and combined the knowledge to swap the filter last night. For reference, it's definitely worth getting yourself a screwdriver at the proper size (phillip's 000 for nikon dslrs) a super-fine pair of tweezers and either a can of air or a blower before commencing the work.

I've given it a quick test run in the garden and everything looks to be working, hope to have some pics from it to share with you soon Smile

Can't wait! If I ever upgrade my 20D, then I'll be looking to get an IR kit for the 10D (20D goes to the wife).
