What a cracking first attempt, it looks great.

good first attempt, feel that some more detail in the rocks would improve the image

How long an exposure Degsy?
Is it me, or is the horizon straight?

It was f16 at 2 secs with a grad grey filter
as i'm getting a lot of comments about my "tilting" photos, i've just ordered one of them camera spirit levels - don't laugh. And a battery grip for good measure! (birthday present)

it strikes me as odd when cameras don't have the grid switched on in the viewfinder by default - i find it a priceless tool when trying to get shots level
Once the picture is taken, Photoshop and Lightroom both have very good straightening tools that put a grid over the picture too - very effective when trying to get things bang on.

i use the viewfinder grid also, but the level does help when using the tripod.

I'm not sure if Canon DSLR's have the grid option on them. I know the P+S cameras do, but the SLR's I dunno about.
Any strightening issues I have, I tend to rectify in PS if I'm going to take my shots any further......
On a side note - Degsy, I was kidding about this particular shot being straight

I've never seen a grid option my 20D, it would be nice though
