I am definitely going to buy some white paint for the walls - putting slave on behind Mum and Dad still didn't work. It took me ages to get them to pose and it was not comfortable for him, but am pleased all the same.

This second one of my grandson and his skateboard was hard work in a small bedroom - not going to tell you what happened when we were outside in the garden - Oh Ok, I will, the focus select switch was on manual (must have knocked it, so all external images were out of focus - what a prat.

My only suggestion might be to touch up that shadow under the skateboard... the ripples in the fabric make for a weird effect that kind of detracts from the image IMO.
I can't tell from looking that your Dad was uncomfortable, he looks very natural and happy to me. Smile

Many thanks Blue - the shadow area will be adjusted, for as you say, the ripples are quite distracting - strange how things like that are not spotted at the time - think its time to sit back and look again before posting. When I get time later on today will look at the different avenues available to smooth them out.

Love them both and can see who you take after in the looks department.

Think the portrait of your parents is very natural just a shame your father wasn't looking at you or it would have been a real cracker.

Great shots both Dave, I agree about the shadow under the skateboard. It's odd how you can be working on a picture and not see something till later. I'm sort of learning to put pictures away and come back fresh the next day when things are likely to jump out at me that familiarity made me blind to previously.

Although I am in somewhat better position than you, it is still incredibly difficult to get the necessary two stops higher brightness on the background than the subjects under less than 12 feet without a ridiculous amount of bleed on to the subjects. Maybe the other option might be to positively use backdrops, even though that is not the modern trend in photography.
