Rhododendron under glassA victim of today's freezing rain.
I struggled a lot with the composition for this one for some reason. Not to mention trying to keep the camera dry. I ended up prefering a close-in tight shot over one that showed the entire bud, leaves and icicles, as interesting as that was.
What do you think?

love it, the background is suitably blured and not distracting and the ice is brilliant.

Thanks. Maybe the clarity of the ice is what subconciously made my decision to crop close. To me it looks like glass.
The weather has become colder. So the ice is still on the trees. But we had snow overnight, and this evening, we had a glorious sunset. The ice coated trees with a snow frosting lit by the setting sun was a fantastic sight!! But I got out of work late and by the time I made it home, the sun had dipped below the horizon and the opportunity was lost. Work sux It gets in the way of important things!

A cocoon of ice, and that bead of ice in the bud, great shot.

Thanks! I must have spent the better part of an hour on two occasions in the freezing rain trying to get a picture I was happy with. There was something about this that my mind's eye could see, but I just couldn't seem to compose anything that felt right. I'm still not sure I got what I was after, but everyone's comments are encouraging - thanks.
