Underwhelming from the big 2?

Canon 450D and D60 news?

450D looks the best bet - nearer the 40D than the 400D. But still that static lcd for liveview. But at least they now offer spot metering.

D60 - hmm, I'm sure there's some big improvement over the D40x. Give me a minute, I'll find it....oh sod, there isn't....

Whereas Sony have the A200 out, the A300 10.2 lv, A350 14mp lv both articulated screens. Pentax the K20D and K200D, Oly perhaps to announce soon too.

Could it be the time for the new boys to hit the big 2's market share?

Would it be worth upgrading form a 400D to a 450d?

I see there are a few differences with regard battery grip & cmos sensor, but also memory it now takes SD instead of CF  Mad

Any opinions?

Leo.

If you're wanting to upgrade from a 400D then you must take the route of either a second-hand 30D or a new 40D (it's the law!) unless you fancy your chances with a second-hand EOS 1D Mk II or a new Mk III that is ;)

Also take a look at your lens collection because you'd probably get more of a performance hike by buying better lenses and/or filters

Entry level DSLRs to me are just that - they may be raising the bar ever so  slightly but existing users should really be looking at the next tier up, or there's no point in upgrading at all.

Ok, thanks Jon!

Yeh I'd agree with John, if your wanting to upgrade you need to be raising the bar and a second hand 30D or new 40D would be a great choice also give you a camera you can grow with and into.
