Vancouver storm and sunsetSo...... I bought a new toy / tool, in the shape of a Canon 5Dmkii, and it came just in time for the biggest thunder and lightening storm we have seen here in all the time I've been over this way.....
These are all SOOC, so apologies for extra bits and stuff in the shots that i'd normally crop out. I have to get to grips with the Full Frame luxuries, but part of the fun is the learning right?
Enough babble...
The sky colour with the storm clouds blocking the sun
lightening
some more lightening (you have no idea how long i've wanted to photograph lightening!!)

Superb! The colour is fantastic.
How long did you spend trying to get the lightening?

we were out for I guess 25 or so minutes taking shots, ranging from long exposure ones to just pressing the shutter when we saw the bolt.... These three are all from short exposure shots IIRC. In the end I put the camera away and enjoyed the light show I think I probably took in the region of 60 - 70 shots to get the 5 or 6 keepers.
I hear there is a shutter trigger now that fires on seeing lightening, but they are pretty expensive. We don't get enough storms here of this nature to justify buying one - we normally just get days and days of drizzle and rain

Good photos, as I said on MSN.
Great colours in that first one. Will you be cropping that black block off the top edge?
Enjoy the new camera mate

TBH these were first shots off the camera, and I don't have the time to play with these much more.......
But thanks for the props - much appreciated!
