Weather!

This is the view from my balcony this afternoon. Reason for putting it up is it's been like this all summer. I've just recovered from a cold, Leah got a chest infection and now has pleurisy, I have an open fire burning because I can no longer afford gas, the price of which was hiked 35% in July and there are floods again across the UK. My whole house if just damp. Is this the consequences of global warming? If so we are in serious trouble.

Now you see,,,you are set me off on one. Mad

Ok I accept global warming is happening and yes we humans have "perhaps"had an adverse effect on that but history has on multiple occasions shown us that the earth goes through cycles. From Ice ages to warming periods.Infact on the scale of thing the earth is infact 100,000 years overdue a big enviormental change (give or take a few hundred years).

Now Im sure you will all agree that the moon has a pretty big impact on the state of our weather, what with controlling our tides and(belive it or not)affecting our seasons.Agreed?...Yes.Well scince the days of N.A.S.A.s space missions scientists have been studying the moon from earth and have recently discovered that the moon is falling out of earths gravity at an alarming rate of (Get this) 4 CMs a year...Yes global warming is happening but it is not the only reason our weather is going all pear shaped.

This one is purely theory but some scientists belive that its just another part of evoulution...the earth just going through one of its own cycles or seasons.

Ah! I feel a loy better now...erm.sorry

There are a great many problems facing us before we even get to global warming. Firstly, opinion -  we can all have an opinion, but what we lack generally is the ability to check our opinions against evidence, partly that's because there is a great deal of conflicting evidence, but there is also the issue of education. Historically education was been divisive, there are those educated to rule (royalty, government, religion) and those educated to serve (peasants/workers) but there is no formal education to enable any of us to be good stewards of our home, this planet, and if we choose to become stewards then there are a great many uncomfortable issues we have to face, not least our feelings of lack of power against the status quo.

Secondly, there is our sense of reality. We all believe what we believe based on, simply, the particular life, society, family we have grown up in. So one of humanities problems is facing the issue that we each live with an idea of reality that is entirely unique to each one of us. How we find consensus and co-operation with each other is a crucial issue. If we are to respect our differences and meet, not despite our differences, but wholly respectful of them, then we need to change how we view each other.

Thirdly, living with ideas in tension. In general, we humans like things in black and white, but life is not about that at all, it is far, far more complex than that. As a person, I contain the ability to be both selfish and selfless (and that's just the merest tip of the most enormous iceberg), both of which are absolutely vital to life. In order to live a full life I need to be able to hold on to paradoxical ideas, I need to accept that I resist change and yet also recognise change is vital.

There is so much more, but just these few issues are huge issues before I even begin to address humanities impact on our planet, which is vast.

I found the following fascinating.

I think it's one of those terms, like rush hour, that produces the exact opposite effect of its name.  Very Happy

Sigh...here we go again.... Laughing

Ok global warming!...What is it?..Its the warming of the whole planet, correct?Yes so as the planet gets warmer so does the water in the ocean. As that happens the water gets evaporated into steam and then condenses into clouds. The more warm water there is the more clouds ther are which is why we get the crappy dull days,Thus more rain.
Laughing Am I smart or what? Very Happy
