Excellent, the only thing I would suggest for No1 is a contrast/curves and maybe a saturation boost.

Thank You. I can't take credit for the frame though - it's a clever automatic thing I got my son to do.

Thank you everyone. I was surprised I could take quite so close up photos with the Ixus.
I don't like the bright blur in the bottom left corner though - I hadn't noticed that before.
creators - is this any better for number 1? Not sure if I've done exactly what you suggested as I'm no Photoshopper but it does look brighter.

Mrs D - P&S cameras are pretty darn good for close ups, but you do need to watch out for depth of field issues with them

I don't know how to change many settings on the Ixus actually. Still learning but thanks for your advice.
