personally, i'd want longer than 60mm - tamron do a nice 90mm one
from what i understand, the loss of autofocus isn't a big deal when taking macro stuff tho _________________ There is nothing in life that cannot be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas NPU Member
60 means in effect that you will have to be a lot closer to the subject than if you had a 90.
I have a 105 Sigma which gives me about 150mm from lens to subject at 1:1. Better if you want to do some insects withjout frightening them away too soon. _________________ -----------------------------------------------------

Forgot to add that the Tamron 90 and Sigma 105 got very good reviews and not a lot to choose between them _________________ -----------------------------------------------------
Have a look at both - and try them - if shop won't let you try then go somewhere else. Its about you beimg comfortable when using it.
The Sigma lens moves out a good way (like a zoom).
Don't know about the Nikkor.
