This was a complete pain in the butt to extract- took me a couple hours last night.  Why didn't I just shoot it on white?  Well, I did, but because his arm is extended, and the angle I had to shoot at, the shot extended past the limits of the backdrop, so I had to extract.  Such a pain- I hate doing that, but I liked the shot, so I thought it was worth the effort.  I don't know if it will be accepted into my stock portfolio, though- they are really picky about isolations.  Also, for some ridiculous reason I had a blue gel on the light, which is hitting the girl.  <sigh>  What do you think?

(also notice my new watermark! :D)

Blue, this is an example of when I don't post an opinion because I simply do not understand the terms you have used. It is far too technical for me.

The only thing I would say is that I wondered why the girl was in the shot or if she is there because she's being protected, maybe she should be little closer to the man as she looks a bit small. I like the expression you have caught on the man's face.

Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will post a reply soon.  Smile

I like the new watermark by the way - it doesn't detract from the photo.

Well, thank you Derek.  I wasn't trying to strongarm anyone into commenting on my work (of course now I feel like that's what I've done) but I appreciate your comments! :D

One thing about me using terms you might not understand is- feel free to ask!  I'm not sure which terms you were referring to, but if I knew I could explain it. Smile Smile

Also- this is exactly the type of critique I am looking for. Smile  Yes, the girl is supposed to be being protected... or maybe she's a hostage, now that I'm looking at it again.  I take it that the image isn't quite as effective as I had hoped, if that concept wasn't really clear.  I wasn't really happy with the lack of enthusiasm she was putting into the shot.  Her husband was really into it (as you can tell) but she wasn't.  She is supposed to look scared, or at least concerned, LOL.

But these are the types of things I'd like to hear about an image.  You don't have to know about lights and backdrops to tell me how an image makes you feel. Smile  Or what you don't understand, or if it's boring, or interesting, or just plain baffling, LOL.  If something just looks wrong, I'd like to hear about it, even if you don't know why it looks wrong.  Sometimes I work on an image for so long that I can no longer see it with clarity.  I sell images to designers, not other photographers, so a layperson's first impression of my work is extremely helpful.  Telling me that the girl looks too small and you don't know what she's doing there is exactly what I need to know.  So thanks!!!

Blue, I totally agree about what a pain in the butt it is when people extend beyond the backdrop, I've had to do it a lot and hate it. The blue gel is just plain unfortunate as far as I can see, it really glares wrongness at me. And, uh, yep, he is full on intense and she is bored, or, she so trusts her guy she's wondering what that insect is doing in the same hemisphere.... Like, 'Eh, what's he pointing the shooter at? Oh, yeah, insect. I'm gonna be pissed if our lattes have gone cold.' But it doesn't really work for me.
