I am so impressed: http://www.projectwoman.com/articles/22PSBlendModes.htm

This was a quick result, clearly I would have to work on the lamp, but that is a piece of cake compared to the usual problems associated with trees and adding new skies to blown ones.

Or even...

Looks good but my trial has finished and now I'm saving up to buy.

I have just investigated Paint Shop ProX to see if it has anything remotely like the same blending options, and it does. Here is the same job from PSPX.

Looks good - have just installed trial of paintshop pro - it's taking forever but I assume that it's flicking through all of my photos and adding them to it's database or something!

Ah, it'll make a difference whether it's PSPX or PSP PhotoX2. PhotoX2 is huge and clunky, though it works fine once it loads. PSPX is slick, fast and sweet.

Whichever you have, if you have any questions, please shout because I live, eat and breath PSP.

and I still have a copy - legit - that someone can have, as I never use it anymore

It also a nice find Keith - the biggest problem is finding a sky that blends with the main image - direction of sun and light amount of same - in relation to what is seen in the main image.

I still find the easiest way to get rid of a blown sky though is using the select by colour option.

I picked the big and clunky one.... which one do you have Hil? I'd happily pay you for it.

I agree about finding the right sky for the image and the direction of the light, that is the most critical step. The one above with the balloon isn't right, but it's ok as an example. The beauty in having different methods is the old horses for courses thing, this one just tickles me, but it will have its limitations and then it's down to the next technique and so on.

Keith I was not criticising the images posted as I realised they were just quick examples to show the technique - will have to give the technique you linked to a go, when I get some time.

Shirley, its PSP X, but I have just looked for it and cannot find it, must be around somewhere, if I find it, and you want the program let me know.

Now I remember, couldn't use it after D70, no RAW updates for later cameras, still can't find it though - strange

Dave, I never thought you were commenting on the pics, that was just me so no worries mate.

PSPX is limited in RAW, I forgot about that because I only shoot RAW in the studio. PSP PhotoX2 is ok on RAW though. I don't know about RAF, but it opens my NEF files from the D80.

It's not working on the RAF from my fuji but it does work with NEF from the D100.
