I was sitting at home and spotted the gorgeous colour of the sun so grabbed my camera and jumped in the car to race somewhere to get some nice pics but was running out of time and the places I thought would be good weren't at the right angle.
I managed to poke my lens through a gate and took some pics but most of them suffered lens Flare due to the fact my lens hood wouldn't fit through the gate.

if you're shooting straight at the sun you will get flare now and again, the hood only helps if the sun's isn't in the picture
shame about the telegraph pole in the foreground as it unbalances the composition. I'd be tempted to invest some hours in cloning that out as without it, it's a really nice pic _________________ There is nothing in life that cannot be improved with either monkeys, pirates or ninjas

all in all you did well to get the image, as jon says cloning the telegraph pole out would really improve it _________________ -----------------------------------------------------

Yeah I'll have a go at cloning it out when I get chance. There were some lines going right across the pic which I already cloned out.
Just a shame I couldn't get closer

You may think it's a shame you didn't get closer for certain shots, but I like the balance of the pic you've posted. The clouds and chimneys add interest but play a supporting role to the main subject. (although I guess getting just in beyond the telegraph pole might have made your post-processing job a lot easier!!)
It doesn't matter if every other shot you got sucked - this capture alone was more than worth the visit.
